The Nevada State Apartment Association (NSAA) is a non-profit organization who provides the Nevada multi-housing industry with legislative support, education and community outreach to benefit our membership and the communities we serve. The NSAA is devoted to supporting the diversity, integrity and ever-changing environment of the multi-family industry. We are devoted to you.
NSAA's Primary Obligations to its Members and the Industry
Legislative
The NSAA has extensive Government Affairs objectives. First and foremost, we are here to serve you in all legislative issues. We educate you on government activity happening at the Federal, State and at the city or local level through work with the National Apartment Association (NAA). NSAA monitors all local city council and local organizations by utilizing its experienced Legislative Committee, who monitors all local legislation and how this legislation may affect the membership of the Association. Through monitoring and communicating these potential dangers, NSAA strives to protect Nevada's apartment assets and integrity. With our members combined efforts, NSAA can serve the industry's best interests and your best interests.
Below is a list of legislative issues in 2009 which the NSAA represented its members and worked to ensure these bills did not negatively effect our industry moving forward.
Education
The NSAA offers a variety of educational offerings throughout the year to fit the needs of rental property owners, mid-to upper-level management company executives, property supervisors, maintenance supervisors and on-site personnel.
Education is critical in expanding and improving the multi-family industry. NSAA's education program was designed and organized by your NSAA Education Committee. The key to the success in our industry -- and that of our businesses individually -- lies in creating educated professionals who understand important issues and have top notch skills. Not only does education make for better management and better employees but it minimizes potential liabilities for owners and managers. NSAA Education is put together with your needs in mind.
Community Outreach
The NSAA is dedicated to making a significant difference in your community. Each year, Association members, along with hard-working volunteers on the NSAA Outreach Committee, focus on several projects to assist local non-profit organizations. Together with you, the focus is on helping to improve the lives of individuals in our community. These organizations benefit from NSAA's generous contributions in terms of volunteer hours, in-kind services and direct funding. NSAA continues to work with and support the following organizations:
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
Fire Prevention Association of Nevada
HopeLink
Myrna Torme Williams Community Center
Susan G. Komen
Three Square
NSAA holds several outreach projects each year, such as, food drives, clothing drives, auctions, community improvement projects (like "Paint the Town") and aiding less fortunate families in our community.
Social Networking Opportunities
Throughout the year NSAA hosts dinners featuring current issues facing our industry and with speakers who discuss topics which benefit members and non-members.
